There a wide variety of industrial chemical produced within factorys that can pose a serious threat to human health if not properly handled, stored, or disposed of. Examples of such chemicals would be:

Genre: Thriller, slice of life

When producing a short film within thriller and slice of life genres, there are various elements that the production team must analyze to ensure that the final product is compelling and successful In this analysis i am going to explore the critical components that should be considered when making a short film in these genres.

Elements of Thriller genre:

Pacing and tension:
Thrillers rely heavily on creating and maintaining tension throughout the story. The pacing should be quick enough to keep the audience engaged and on the edge of their seats, but not so fast that it becomes overwhelming. In our production our team is going to be using a wide range of tecnhiques to achieve these effects such as dramatic music, suspenseful camera angles and long shots, close ups.

Film Production

Pre Production:

Job roles
Storyboard

For pre-production we created a template outlining all the job roles that will be required for our film as well as gave each of us our own individual job roles as well as job roles we would be sharing.

This is the first draft of our storyboard.

Cinematography

This is a collage of different elements of cinematgorapghy ideas that we were thinking of implementing into in our film. Elements of suspense implemented through close ups and long shots, white and black scenes

Risk Assesment

This is the risk assessment for the film. The main locations

Post production

Here we are getting and ready to  setup the first take of the scene. The two directors, Harvey and Carlos are telling Nick who is the actor for Brett that for the first scene they want him to walk forward place the bin on the trolley and walk along the pathway, whilst making expressions of tiredness and struggle as he is pushing it. Carlos is going to be in front of Nick while he is moving doing a close up shot to capture Bretts facial expressions.

As the boom operator I am going to be holding the boom mic on the other side of the pathway while Callum is holding the tascam connected to the boom mic whilst I am following Nick's movements making sure the mic is picking up his sounds.

In this part we are setting up to get ready to make  the first take of our scene. Nick is going to take the trolley with the bin on it and walk along the pathway with it as Carlos is going to be in front of him doing a mixture of a long and close up shot.

Continuation of risk assessment

Examples of risk assessment in film

Risk assessments in film production are crucial to ensure the safety of cast, crew, and equipment. Here are some examples of risk assessments commonly performed in the film industry:
1. Stunt scenes: Before shooting an action or stunt sequences, a risk assessment is conducted to evaluate potential hazards. This includes assessing the safety of performers, the use of safety harnesses or protective gear, and ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to prevent injuries.

2.  Special effects:

Risk assessments are performed for scenes involving special effects, such as pyrotechnics, explosions, or simulated fires. The assessment examines the safety protocols for handling explosives, fire safety measures, and the use of protective equipment for cast and crew.

Filming Location:

When shooting on location, risk assessments are conducted to identify potential hazards specific to the environment.
